Michigan Merit Examination (MME) - FREE ACT TESTThe Michigan Merit Examination (MME) is the state assessment administered to students enrolled in Grade 11 (and Grade 12 as needed) in March of each year. The MME is OPTIONAL for homeschooled students.
The exam will provide students with a free ACT college entrance exam score that can be used to apply to college. In other words, you no longer have to pay to have your child take the ACT if they participate in MME testing. However, if homeschooled students participate, they must complete all of the MME testing, not just the ACT portion.
In the fall, homeschool students who are juniors/seniors and wish to participated in the MME in March should to contact the high school in the public school district in which they reside. You need to identify yourself as a home-schooled student who wants to participate in the MME. The public schools would prefer parents give notice in the fall of intent to take the MME, since the schools need sufficient time to order enough ACT materials for March testing.
