These one day student and parent workshops will motivate and inspire creativity in you and your students! Whether they are just beginning to write or working on college essays, Jeanne’s approach to teaching writing will set your students free! • Essays – January 21, 2010 • Research & Reports – February 18, 2010 • Fiction & Creative Non-Fiction – March 18, 2010 • Creative Writing with Poetry – April 15, 2010 I cannot recommend Mrs. Noorman’s workshops highly enough. Jeanne’s enthusiasm sparked a strong desire to write in both of my sons. She is very encouraging and actively engages the students. They learned new writing techniques and then practiced them right there during the workshop. Jeanne also does a great job of understanding where each student is starting from and knows just how to provide a challenge that’s right for them. My son summed it up well when he said “Some teachers just tell you what you’re doing wrong, but Mrs. Noorman gives really specific helpful feedback and ideas for how to improve.” ~ Judy H. LIVING IN THE LAND OF OVER-COMMITMENT – January 19, 2010 Start the New Year off by learning how to set priorities and find balance in your overly busy world! This workshop will help you recognize the signs of over-commitment in your life, understand why we tend to do too much, and provide you with the tools and strategies needed to stop running the rat race. A HOMESCHOOL STUDENT’S GUIDE TO THE ACT TEST – February 6, 2010 This workshop will help students get a feel for taking the timed test and will provide them with a starting place in their preparation for the ACT and SAT tests. • How to prepare for the ACT test • Study and test taking strategies • What is covered on the five tests: ...............................Reading ...............................Math ...............................English ...............................Science Reasoning ...............................Writing – extra time is devoted to what is required on this test • A full length ACT Practice Test is administered & reviewed Our son took your ACT Prep class and also attended the follow up class to improve his writing. He does not perform well under pressure and was very pleased with his score. He felt confident and prepared after taking your class. Thank you! ~ Anne R. NEWLY EXPANDED HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE PREP WORKSHOPS - I began presenting A Homeschooler’s Guide to College Prep four years ago. At every presentation parents would ask questions about how to do high school, so I added that information to the workshop. But there is really too much information to cover well in just one evening, so this spring I will be adding more important information to each section and offering them as two different workshops. A HOMESCHOOLER’S GUIDE TO HIGH SCHOOL – March 23, 2010 • Michigan High School Graduation Requirements • Planning & Getting it all done in just four years • Grades, Credits and Record Keeping • Beyond the Books - Preparing your student for life after homeschooling A HOMESCHOOLER’S GUIDE TO COLLEGE ADMISSIONS – April 20, 2010 • When should we start planning for college? • What about transcripts? • What about PSAT, ACT and SAT tests? • How do we choose – Private College vs. Public? • How do we navigate admissions, scholarship applications and college visits? • Answers to your questions! A Christian writer and speaker, Jeanne Noorman and her husband Greg finished their sixteenth and final year of homeschooling in the spring of 2009. All three of their daughters have graduated from home, earned multiple scholarships and gone on to excel in college. Living the Homeschool Lifestyle and Jeanne’s Homeschool Workshops for Parents and Students are born out of her experience and sincere desire to support and encourage excellence in home education.
