Optimist Club Oratorical Contest - MARCH 25 - Sign up by March 19th

The Optimist Club of Grand Rapids is encouraging area students to write and deliver an original speech with the topic of "Cyber Communication: Progress or Problem?" as part of the Optimist International Oratorical Contest for 2010. The contest is to be held Thursday, March 25, 2010 at the Home School Building starting soon after 3:30 pm (5625 Burlingame Ave. SW, Wyoming, MI 49509-9702, (616) 532-9422). All interested students should enter as soon as possible but no later than March 19.

The Optimist Club will judge the local students' speeches based on content and presentation to determine the winners. Winners will be sent to the zone level, and possibly to the district level for the opportunity to win college scholarships.

Students, under the age of 16 as of December 31, 2009, are eligible to participate. The speech is to be 4 to 5 minutes in length.

All interested students are welcome to enter. Students outside of Kent County may be referred to local contest sites closer to where they live.
