Meghan has been homeschooled since 9th grade. She is the receptionist at the Hairport salon in Grandville. Cosmetology is a gifting she would like to pursue. She has been accepted at Douglas J Aveda Institute, her plans would include becoming a licensed cosmetologist and working in that field while preparing herself to be an awesome godly wife and mother. "Homeschooling has really helped prepare me for my future, and I am a better person because of it. I am excited for what God has for me".

 

James Patrick McDermott
Son of Shawn and Theresa McDermott

James Patrick McDermott is the only son of Shawn and Theresa McDermott of Grandville. Homeschooled for 10 years, his interest in computers led to Lego Robotics, Video Game Design, Mark Kistler Art Camps and a computer-generated art entry in Congressman Vern Ehlers Artfest 2008. He volunteers at WKTV Studios as Director and Producer on two shows. He participated in Eta Sigma Alpha Home School Honor Society and was awarded the Platinum Plus Scholarship at Davenport University beginning Fall 2010 majoring in Computer Gaming and Simulation

 

Ashley Rae VanderGeld
Daughter of Bill and Sondra VanderGeld
Caledonia

Throughout high school, Ashley has organized volunteer opportunities for the home school community at RBC Ministries and the Omega House. She has played piano for her church worship team and volunteered at John Ball Zoo. Ashley also enjoys ASL and public speaking. She placed third at the Right to Life Oratory State Competition and plans on majoring in Business Management at Cornerstone University, where she received the Presidential Scholarship. She hopes to make a difference for the Lord everywhere she goes and further Across My Heart Ministries as she reaches out to the young girls in West Michigan.

 


Mackenzie Jay Wimbush
Son of Jason and Jennifer Wimbush
Grand Rapids

ZJ is graduating at 17 with honors and has been homeschooled for 7 years. He spent two years studying Graphic Communications and 3-D Animation at KC/TC. Z has been accepted into Ferris State University's Digital Animation and Game Design. Lord willing, he'll begin studies in the Fall as a sophomore due to early college and articulated credits. He has received two scholarships for FSU and is praising the Lord for His provision. His hope is to use graphic arts to further the kingdom of God. Mackenzie enjoys long boarding and serves on the sound tech ministry at his church.
